About Capstone Ranch

Capstone Ranch is located on the banks of the Brazos River just north of Waco, Texas, nestled amid rolling hills, a rock-bottom creek, and a pecan orchard. Our donkeys graze beside spring-fed ponds in the shade of large native oak and pecan trees.

Recognized by the National Miniature Donkey Association as an honorary Ambassador of the Breed, we were among the first breeders to present miniature donkeys at Equitana, in Louisville, Kentucky. There, along with Quarter Moon Ranch, we introduced thousands of people to miniature donkeys. Capstone Ranch was also the site of the first Rio Brazos Miniature Donkey Expo in 1998. We teamed up with Quarter Moon Ranch and Diamond J Miniature Donkeys to host over 100 breeders from North America and Europe in a fabulous weekend event devoted entirely to miniature donkeys.

At Capstone Ranch, we are more interested in quality than quantity. For that reason, we limit the size of our breeding operation in order to pursue our vision of producing a select group of foals each year. Our foals are handled from birth and they receive the attention needed to be friendly and easy to manage by their new owners. While we pride ourselves on the sweet disposition of our donkeys and their suitability as loveable, family pets, Capstone Ranch donkeys have distinguished themselves in the show ring at regional, state, and national levels. We even have animals that are winning shows in Europe.

Having been around donkeys on a daily basis for almost twenty years, we never stop being amazed and entertained by them. Whether a miniature Mediterranean or a mammoth Poitou, the keen mind and the gentle spirit of the donkeys are always evident. As donkey enthusiasts, we continue to strive to educate people about the pleasure of owning donkeys. It’s a blast for us to take our donkeys on field trips into the community, so look for us around Waco at events like charity walks, children’s events, or trekking the trails in Waco’s beautiful Cameron Park.

We are happy to share our experience and knowledge of donkeys. Your questions are always welcome.
